It has been recognized that one of the main contributing factors to the shortage of specialized skills in South Africa is the absence of programmes that provide opportunities for young people to develop these skills in the workplace environment. The Mvula Trust is therefore addressing this challenge through developing an internship programme in order to assist in preparing students to be effective in the job market. The programme aims to enhance students’ ability to link their theoretical learning to the real world of business.
Prefernce is accorded to prospective interns who fulfill the following criteria:
- South African citizens
- Registered with a recognized tertiary institution studying towards a technical or professional qualification or
- Registered with a professional board \body in respect of an internship programme.
- Preference will be granted to interns who are registered with historically disadvantaged institution.
Interns training shall take place for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum period of 12 months or depending on the requirements of the specific qualification that is being pursued.
