Acting Head of Policy - Victor Munnik
Victor’s career includes journalism, research, activism, publications and policy analysis in the environmental, rural development and water sectors.
He has worked for a number of publications, was a founder member of Vrye Weekblad, worked for the Environmental and Development Agency (EDA) Trust, was assistant editor of New Ground and editor of the Land and Rural Digest. He served as policy analyst for the civil society secretariat for the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD). He co-authored three groundWork reports on the politics of pollution, waste and energy in South Africa.
He holds honours degrees in journalism (Stellenbosch), comparative literature (Wits) and geography (Wits), and is currently completing a Ph D dissertation (at Wits) on the role of discursive power in pollution struggles.
He works to extend the human right to water, the right to live in a healthy environment, the protection of our water resources and ecosystems, the improvement of the quality of life in rural areas, and to build a strong participatory democracy.
